Global Alumina says in discussions on possible sale

Canada's Global Alumina Corp said it is in discussions "with a third party concerning a possible sale of the company." Few other details were provided other than that any agreement would be subject to an extensive due diligence process. Global Alumina is developing a 3-million tpy greenfield alumina refinery in the west African country of Guinea. It has already signed a joint venture/off-take deal with BHP Billiton, Dubai Aluminium and Mubadala Development. The latter two companies have teamed up to develop a 1.4 million tpy smelter in the Gulf state of Abu Dhabi.
