BHP studies building iron ore export port in Brazil

  Bloomberg reported that BHP Billiton Ltd the world's biggest mining company is considering developing a deep water iron ore export terminal in Brazil.   Newspaper Valor Economico reported that BHP is planning a USD 900 million terminal that may ship 50 million tonnes of ore a year from 2011. BHP has bought land along the Sepetiba Bay in Rio de Janeiro state.   Ms Samantha Evans a spokeswoman for the Melbourne based company said that “We have applied for a preliminary environmental license.''
