BHP Billiton gets statement of objections from EC

LONDON (MarketWatch) -- Mineral giant BHP Billiton said Tuesday that it has received a statement of objections from the European Commissions in relation to its bid for rival Rio. BHP Billiton said it's continuing to work cooperatively with the European Commission and will respond in due course. Shares were up 2.9% in London, while Rio Tinto shares were up 1.3% in a stronger European share market.
