THE AUSTRALIAN Aluminium Council is urging aluminium smelters to speak up on the government’s proposed renewable energy targets. The AAC is trying to gather lobbying pressure to amend the energy targets, citing tens of millions dollars at risk. According to the Australian Aluminium Council, the $4b upgrade for the Kurri Kurri aluminium smelter is under threat, as is the Tomago smelter. The AAC wants smelters to submit their concerns to the senate inquiry on the issue.
