PARIS, June 13 -- Alcan announced today at a press conference that it will be showcasing its sophisticated aluminum-based solutions for the aerospace industry at its Shaping the Sky exhibit at the 47th International Paris Air Show. Alcan's exhibit focuses on Alcan's innovations and leadership position in the expanding aerospace market.
During a press conference, Christel Bories, President and CEO of Alcan Engineered Products stated: "Through the Shaping the Sky display, Alcan hopes to demonstrate our strong business platform focused on engineered materials in market segments where we have a competitive edge for growth potential. Alcan Aerospace is a case in point of how Alcan Engineered Products has the right business platform, a strong market presence, management systems and expertise to accelerate and sustain its profitable growth."

Some of the products that will be highlighted at the Company's Shaping the Sky exhibit are an Airbus A380 aluminum wing rib and a Falcon 900/2000/7X passenger door. The wing rib is machined at Alcan and 100 percent of the swarfs (metal shavings) that are created as a result of this process are recycled in-house. The Falcon passenger door is produced using processes that significantly reduce the cost and enhance efficiencies of the end-product. These are just some examples that show the environmentally sustainable characteristics of aluminum, and Alcan's operational processes.
These and other product presentations at Alcan's Shaping the Sky exhibit demonstrate the strong commitment to aerospace innovation as one of Alcan Engineered Products' key strategies for meeting the ever-evolving needs of its customers. In 2006, Alcan Aerospace announced more than US$65 million of investments in its existing facilities in order to satisfy the growing aerospace market demand.
The International Paris Air Show is one of the most prestigious of its kind in the world. The 47th edition of the Event will take place from June 18 - 24 and will showcase the latest technical advances in the industry. The Show will host over 5,000 business and technology meetings between contractors and suppliers, with a focus on the supply chain and research & development.
