Vacant Ellenville area commercial properties marketed

ELLENVILLE – The former Schrade knife manufacturing plant and the former Hydro aluminum plant, both in the Ellenville area, remain vacant since they were shut down. But, they are both being marketed for reuse. Ellenville Mayor Jeffrey Kaplan said with the Schrade property, economic development marketers are looking at options on how to promote it. “There is a question of whether it’s going to be able to be used for a replacement business based upon one user or whether it’s going to have to be split up into sections, if it can’t be,” he said. “There is interest there and we are confident something will happen there soon.” As for the former aluminum extrusion plant, Kaplan said they are marketing it with incentives from the federal stimulus package and the Ulster County Development Corporation.
