Copper, nickel prices rise on global trend

New Delhi, Sep 1 Select base metals - copper and nickel - strengthened by Rs 2 per kg on the wholesale non-ferrous metal market in the national capital today largely in tandem with firming trend in global markets. Firm demand from consuming industries also supported the prices. Trading sentiment turned better after copper prices in New York rallied 2.5 per cent to 28975 dollar a pound in futures trade. In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap recovered by Rs 2 each at Rs 310, Rs 331 and Rs 290 and nickel (4x4) followed suit and traded higher by the same margin at Rs 858-968per kg.
