China State, Yunnan Aluminium, Baiyao: China Equity Preview

Sept. 14 (Bloomberg) -- The following companies may have unusual price changes in China trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and share prices are as of the close of Sept. 11. The Shanghai Composite Index, which tracks the bigger of China’s stock exchanges, gained 64.91, or 2.2 percent, to 2,989.79. The CSI 300 Index rose 2.4 percent to 3,238.04. China’s securities regulator will review the applications of seven companies on Sept. 17 for initial public offerings on the nation’s new board for start-up companies, the China Securities Regulatory Commission said late yesterday. Tire makers: President Barack Obama placed tariffs of 35 percent on $1.8 billion of automobile tires from China. The additional duties will begin Sept. 26 and last for three years, dropping 5 percentage points a year, according to a White House statement on Sept. 12. Giti Tire Corp. (600182 CH) was unchanged at 7.49 yuan. Guizhou Tyre Co. (000589 CH) fell 1.3 percent to 16.02 yuan. China State Construction Engineering Corp. (601668 CH): The nation’s largest housing contractor said it won 225 billion yuan ($33 billion) of contracts in the first eight months of this year, a 20 percent increase from 2008. The stock added 1.1 percent to 5.31 yuan. Yunnan Aluminium Co. (000807 CH): China’s fifth-largest producer of the light metal said it sold 130 million new shares in a private placement, raising 1.19 billion yuan. The shares start trading tomorrow, it said. The shares fell 0.7 percent to 13.16 yuan. Yunnan Baiyao Group Co. (000538 CH): The manufacturer of traditional Chinese medicines said its second-largest shareholder Yunnan Hongta Group plans to sell a 12 percent stake in the traditional Chinese medicine producer for 2.2 billion yuan. The stock rose 0.2 percent to 44.02 yuan.
