Futures: Aluminium remains firm as demand improves

NEW DELHI: Supported by improving demand, aluminium futures prices rose by another 0.65 per cent on the Multi Commodity Exchange today on continued short-covering by traders. Aluminium for delivery in September contract traded 0.65 per cent higher at Rs 92.60 per kg with turnover in 72 lots, while aluminium for delivery in October contract rose by 0.16 per cent to Rs 93.25 per kg, clocking turnover in 5 lots. Analysts said improving demand for the metal in global and domestic markets from consuming industries mainly pushed up aluminium prices at futures market here. Meanwhile, aluminium prices fell 1.37 per cent to $1,940 per tonne at the LME in yesterday's trade. - PTI
