Fourth Aluminium Extrusion Conference to be held in Melbourne

MATERIALS Australia is holding the fourth Aluminium Extrusion Conference in Melbourne from 27 to 29 October 2009. The 4th Aluminium Extrusion Conference is themed “Increasing Efficiency”. The conference comes as the global extrusion industry becomes increasingly competitive. This competitiveness means extrusion companies need to differentiate themselves with value-added products and markets. The conference will focus on different ways of value adding in the extrusion industry. The Aluminium Extrusion Conference will provide an opportunity for end users and industries involved in the extrusion and fabrication sectors to meet and participate in two days of informative presentations and discussion. The Aluminium Extrusion Conference will incorporate a workshop on 27 October 2009 aimed at beginners and intermediate personnel. The workshop will cover 6XXX alloy extrusion metallurgy, billet upset and metal flow, dies and tooling, process optimisation and productivity, temperature control, recovery planning, control of extrusion dimensions, defects, and benchmarking. On 29 October 2009, there will be a site visit to Independent Extrusions (INEX), where delegates will see a 24MN press and handling system. There will also be a visit to Extrusion Profiles Australia (EPA) for an opportunity to view a 24MN press and handling system, and a powder coat and anodising line.
