FACTBOX-Key mines in Peru expected to strike

Oct 16 (Reuters) - Peruvian workers plan to go on a two-day strike starting on Monday to pressure the government to improve labor benefits in the sector. Peru is a leading global metals producer. It ranks No. 1 in silver, No. 2 in zinc, No. 3 in copper and tin, No. 4 in lead and No. 6 in gold. Minerals exports comprise about 60 percent of the country's overseas shipments and drive its economy. Below is a list of all key mines expected to strike, with their production volumes for the January-to-August period of this year and their contribution to national output: COPPER: * Freeport-McMoran's (FCX.N) Cerro Verde 1,2,3: 218,254 tonnes, 26.5 percent of Peruvian copper output. ZINC: * Volcan (VOL_pb.LM) 174,067 tonnes, 17.5 percent of Peruvian zinc output. GOLD: * Barrick (ABX.TO) 27,836,644 fine grams, 22.89 percent of Peruvian gold output. * Newmont Yanacocha (NEM.N) 42,490,534 fine grams, 34.9 percent of Peruvian gold output.
