Yunnan Aluminum, Construction Bank: China Equity Preview

Shares of the following companies may have unusual moves in China trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the previous close.


The Shanghai Composite Index rose 37.1 points, or 1.4 percent, to 2,743.47. The CSI 300 Index added 1.6 percent to 3,001.56.


Aluminum processors: Aluminum processors in China have received notices from energy suppliers asking them to brace for power cuts as the country faces electricity shortages this summer, potentially heralding disruption across the industry.


Yunnan Aluminium Co. (000807 CH) gained 2.3 percent to 10.77 yuan. The aluminum producer said one of its units received 19.6 million yuan ($3 million) in government subsidies, according to a statement to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange today.


Anhui Gujing Distillery Co. (000596 CH): The liquor maker said it has lowered its private placement share price, according to a statement to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange today. The stock gained 0.6 percent to 72.4 yuan.


China Construction Bank Corp. (601939 CH): The Chinese bank said it doesn't rule out the possibility of acquisitions of Russian commercial banks or investment in the country's banking industry, Xinhua News Agency reported today, citing the Chinese lender's president Zhang Jianguo. The stock added 0.8 percent to 5.04 yuan.


China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (600028 CH): The nation's largest oil refiner's parent, China Petrochemical Corp,. has no immediate plans to increase its stake in the unit, spokesman Huang Wensheng told reporters in Beijing today. The stock climbed 1 percent to 8.06 yuan.


China Southern Airlines Co. (600029 CH): The airline said it will buy six Boeing Co. 777 freighters as the nation's export growth spurs air-cargo traffic, according to a statement to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The stock was suspended from trading on May 30.


Datong Coal Industry Co.?601001 CH): The coalminer plans to jointly develop Fanwangsi coal mine in Shanxi province with its parent, according to a Shanghai Stock Exchange filing today. The company will hold 51 percent of the project, which will have a total investment of 4.7 billion yuan, and the parent will hold the balance, it said. The stock gained 2.5 percent to 17.61 yuan.


GD Power Development Co. (600795 CH): The power producer said the No. 3 generator at Shenxigou hydropower plant started operation after a trial run, according to a Shanghai Stock Exchange announcement today. The stock gained 1.6 percent to 3.1 yuan.


Henan Shuanghui Investment & Development Co. (000895 CH): The company said its parent Shuanghui Group will resume production of its Jiyuan unit on June 2, according to a filing to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. The stock climbed 0.4 percent to 61.91 yuan.


Huadian Power International Corp. (600027 CH): The state power producer said average on-grid tariffs will be increased by 0.0171 yuan per kilowatt-hour as China said it will raise electricity prices, according to a statement to the Hong Kong stock exchange today. The stock gained 1.6 percent o 3.72 yuan.


ZTE Corp. (000063 CH): China's second-largest maker of phone equipment said it won a contract from BelTelecom to supply the national broadband network in Belarus, according to an e- mailed statement yesterday. BelTelecom had 5 million users last year, according to the statement. The stock added 1 percent to 25.99 yuan.
