According to Yu Dehui, the previous general manager of Aluminum Corporation of China Limited (CHALCO), China’s aluminum industry has to accelerate the pace of green and low-carbon development to achieve a peak in carbon dioxide emissions before 2030 and carbon neutrality before 2060.
Therefore, Yu Dehui said that China should have a target of total carbon emission for the aluminum industry and implement quota management for carbon emission as the aluminum consumption is increasing.
In addition, to give support for the development of the secondary aluminum industry, China has to raise the ratio for clean energy consumption and introduce the relevant measures.
