Spanish firm invests 8 million euros in Morocco

Rabat, Morocco, 01/09 - A Spanish company specialised in the extrusion of aluminium has begun operation in the northern Moroccan city of Asilah its first factory with an annual production capacity of 6,000 tonnes of extruded aluminium, after investing 8 million euros.

This factory, "the Kaye Aluminium Asilah", is the first production unit installed in the "Boughanem" industrial zone in Asilah, official Moroccan sources said Monday, adding that it is equipped with a press of 1,300 tonnes and one channel of horizontal lacquering.

The factory, which employs 35 people, plans to acquire, before the end of the year, another press and another channel of lacquering, which increase its annual production to 12,000 tonnes and the number of its employees at 105.

The Spanish company "Exlabesa" sells to Morocco 2,000 tonnes of extruded aluminium, or a 3% increase of its production.

Third aluminium extrusion enterprise of Europe, "Exlabesa", which achieves a turnover of more than 250 million euros, has an annual production of 90,000 tonnes, including 70% earmarked for the European market.

In addition to its new unit in Asilah, "Exlabesa" possesses one in Doncaster (Great Britain) and another one in Ohio (USA).
