Analysts are predicting the group's earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation to surge 164 pct to 698.4 mln usd in the three months to December, from 264.6 mln previously.
This forecast assumes a 73 pct increase in revenue to 1.68 bln usd, from 974.4 mln, they said.
Output growth will be partly driven by the Chanderiya zinc plant, which was commissioned in early 2006, and production ramp up at the 245,000-tonne a year Korba aluminium facility. Vedanta in December said Korba will achieve full capacity towards the end of 2006. The de-bottlenecking at the Tuticorin copper smelter has been completed, raising the facility's annual capacity by 100,000 tonnes to 400,000 tonnes, it said.
The group, which is operating mines in India and Zambia, is carrying out a 3 bln usd expansion programme, a follow up on the 2.1 bln usd growth plan it completed in 2005.
