India's Ess Dee expects to double income; launches anti-counterfeit packaging Indian pharma packaging company Ess Dee Aluminium Ltd said it expects to double its annual revenues with the launch of new anti-counterfeiting packaging products. The company plans to invest 1 bln rupees 'over the next few years' in the segment. Chairman Sudip Dutta told Thomson Financial News that the company will apply for patents on the inhouse developed products, which include blister packs, PVC films and laminates. Ess Dee's technology involves the incorporation of 3D, reflective or holographic printed images on aluminium foil. Dutta revealed plans to take over a company in Europe and said Ess Dee is also on the lookout for a local printing and R&D company. He declined to name the target companies. The packaging solutions provider further also said its capacity expansion is almost complete and expects the expanded facility will come on stream next month. The new capacity will be 18,000 metric tones per annum (MTA) from the present 9,100 MTA, the company said.
