Nalco Plan to Build Smelter in Sumatra

Bombay—Nalco will sign a MOU with Indonesia government in next month on build a smelter in Sumatra. Indonesia Metal Industry Minister of Industry Ministry Putu Suryawirawan said this smelter plan to build in South Sumatra, consume 3 billion dollars. Annual output is expected to 250 thousand in the first period and doubled in the next period. He also said that Nalco will do feasibility study on this project, and they will offer alumina to this smelter. It is reported that Nalco will sell 25,000 ton alumina this month via invite bidding, and this bidding will finished in the first half month. It has sold 30,000 ton alumina at a price 376.10$/ton.
