Nalco reaches yet another milestone

BHUBANESWAR, Oct. 27: The National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Nalco) achieved a major milestone by lighting up the boiler of the 120 MW Unit of its Captive Power Plant (CPP) at Angul yesterday signaling commencement of activities related to expansion of the CPP which is scheduled to be completed by December 2008. Nalco’s CPP expansion is part of the on-going Rs 5000 crore second phase expansion projects. At present the Company has installed capacity of 960 MW and with the commissioning of two units the capacity would increase to 1200 MW. Mr CR Pradhan, CMD, Mr PK Routray, director (production), Mr Joy Varghese, director (P&A), Mr AK Sharma, executive director (Smelter & Power) and other senior officials, were present on the occasion at Angul yesterday. The boiler lighting-up is a significant milestone towards the commissioning of second phase expansion project. Commissioning activities at other units like Bauxite Mines, Alumina Refinery and Smelter plant are also going on simultaneously. ---Statesman News Service
