Nalco bags Niryat Shree Award

BHUBANESWAR, Dec. 16: National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Nalco) has bagged the prestigious Niryat Shree Award for excellence in export for the year 2005-06. Instituted by the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), the award was received by Nalco CMD Mr CR Pradhan from the Union minister for textiles Mr Shankar Singh Vaghela at a function held in New Delhi today. President Mrs Pratibha Devsingh Patil was present at the ceremony. During 2005-06, Nalco exported 8.62 lakh tonnes of alumina and 95,747 tonnes of aluminium earning a foreign exchange of Rs 2,306.20 crore against Rs 2200.25 crore in the previous year. It has further improved its export performance during 2006-07, and earned record foreign exchange of Rs 2585 crore. Nalco has been able to boost its exports considerably after the first phase alumina and metal capacity expansion. The company is now all set to complete its second phase expansion, which aims to further boost its export business. Source: thestatesman.net
