Bhubaneswar: RSB Metaltech, an RSB Group company, Friday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Orissa government to set up a Rs 6,800-crore integrated light metal aluminium complex in Orissa. The RSB Group is one of the leading engineering conglomerates of India.
The project will create facilities for production of 7 lakh tonne alumina and 1.75 lakh tonne aluminium. In the first phase, 90,000 tonne of metal would be converted to final products for automotive, aerospace, railway and construction sector industry applications. In the second phase, 1.75 lakh tonne would be converted into final products.
The mining and alumina refineries are expected to be come up in the Rayagada district. The aluminium smelting units, captive power plants and the downstream facilities are being planned in Kamakhyanagar in Dhenkanal. The MoU was signed by RSB Metaltech managing director SK Behera and Orissa industry, steel & mines secretary Ashok Dalwai in presence of chief minister Naveen Patnaik and RSB Group chairman RK Behera. RK Behera said the project is a unique business model that integrates the total value chain from mining, alumina refinery, aluminium smelter, and power generation to downstream manufacturing of finished products for automotive, aerospace, railway and construction sector applications. “This integration of various stages of manufacturing and agglomeration of stream facilities would be first of its kind in Asia,” he said.
