MUMBAI, Mar 13, 2009 (Dow Jones Commodities News via Comtex) -- India's state-run National Aluminium Co. (532234.BY) has scrapped a tender for the sale of 10,000 metric tons of alumina because of low bids, a senior company official said Friday. The highest bid, at $168.05/ton, was lower than the $191/ton received for the previous consignment of 30,000 tons last month, said the official, who didn't wished to be named. "This was a small consignment, which was over and above our annual target of 850,000 tons. We have already met our target, and the last two consignments will be shipped out by the end of the month," said the official. The tender, which received five bids, was also scrapped after some logistical problems with transportation and power problems at Vizag port, said the official. -By Swansy Afonso, Dow Jones Newswires; 91-22-2288-4212-18; swansy.afonso@dowjones.com
