BHUBANESWAR, India, May 12 (Reuters) - Indian state-run National Aluminium Co Ltd expects to resume full bauxite production from Tuesday after an attack by Maoist rebels crippled operations a month ago, a senior company official said. "We hope to resume full production from today," P.K. Mohapatra, executive director (mines and refinery), told Reuters. "The workers would now operate up to 10 p.m." The NALCO mine at Damanjodi in India's eastern Orissa state was attacked by Maoist rebels on April 12 that left 10 policemen guarding the mine and five rebels dead. The mine restarted partially on April 22 working up to 5 p.m. (1130 GMT). Mohapatra said workers agreed to resume late shift after being assured of their safety in a meeting on Monday. Production of bauxite, which feeds its refinery, fell about 36 percent to 9,000 tonnes a day from 14,000 tonnes, the company said in early May. Mohapatra said its alumina output at the refinery was normal even though its bauxite stocks dropped by a quarter to 300,000 tonnes.
