ANGUL, 13 JULY: The National Aluminium Company (Nalco) has executed a fuel supply agreement with Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) for the supply of 4.71 million tons of coal per year to run Nalco’s 960 MW captive power plant. According to a MCL press release, up until 8 July this year MCL has supplied 1.35 million tonnes of coal. As the pro-rata quantity is 1.27 million tonnes, MCL has supplied 105 per cent of the agreed quantity to Nalco during the above period. According to the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), the supply of coal has been 99 per cent this July and 91 per cent overall this year. This is no mean achievement, especially when considering the grueling summer season. Before the coal is dispatched to consumers like Nalco and NTPC, a joint sampling system is used where consumer and MCL representatives analyze the coal at the loading point and afterwards to the satisfaction of both parties, before the coal is dispatched. source:www.thestatesman.net
