Vedanta Resources production up, revenue down

LONDON (MarketWatch) -- Miner Vedanta Resources /quotes/comstock/23s!e:ved (UK:VED 1,764, +20.00, +1.15%) said Friday that its first-quarter revenue fell 32.8% to $1.36 billion. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization dropped 52% to $354.7 million. with lower commodity prices offsetting higher volumes and lower production costs. Aluminium production rose 26.2% to 125,00 metric tons, while cathode copper production in India and Australia climbed 14.7% to 78,000 tons. The firm said that it saw higher production in all of its businesses.
