Ess Dee, PPL, Avon post & Sanwaria Agro's Q1 results

Ess Dee Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium foil producer, has posted 17.8 per cent decline in net profit at Rs 17.60 crore in the first quarter ended June 30, 2009 as compared to Rs 21.41 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Net sales of the company, however, surged 22 per cent to Rs 130.38 crore from Rs 106.82 crore in the quarter under review.
PPL’s quarterly profit rises 172%
Paper Products Ltd (PPL), the country’s leading flexible packaging material manufacturer, saw a 172 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 10.84 crore in the quarter ended June 30, 2009 as compared to Rs 3.99 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. However, total sales of the company declined marginally by 10.92 per cent to Rs 155.47 crore from Rs 174.53 crore which was attributed to the global economic slowdown.
Avon posts Q1 net at Rs 3.38 cr
The Mumbai-based Avon Corporation Ltd has posted its first-ever quarterly net profit at Rs 3.38 crore in the first quarter of the current fiscal on a turnover of Rs 25.79 crore. In the last financial year, the company had posted 272.34 per rise in net profit at Rs 7 crore as compared to Rs 1.88 crore in the previous year. Net sales from operations zoomed to Rs 79.59 crore from Rs 49.47 crore.
Sanwaria Agro’s Q1 net rises 63%
Sanwaria Agro Oils, leading soybean processors and producers of refined soybean oil, has posted 63 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 10.08 crore for the first quarter ended 30 June 2009 as compared to Rs 6.19 crore during the same period last year. The company’s net sales, however, declined 44.23 per cent due to less crushing of seed on closure of two plants for annual maintenance to settle at Rs 143.01 crore versus Rs 256.43 crore.
