India 1Q base metals output rises; gold production down

India's state-run and private companies produced 303,400 metric tons of aluminium in the first quarter of the financial year that started in April, up 11% from a year earlier, a government statement said Tuesday. Copper production during the April-June period was at 169,190 tons, up from 130,870 tons during the same period last year, the statement added. India produced 100,247 tons of zinc during April-June, up 10.5% from a year earlier. Lead production was at 13,669 tons, up from 10,460 tons last year. Gold production declined to 2.52 tons during April-June from 3.30 tons last year. India's financial year runs from April to March.
