Japan's August rolled aluminium product shipments edge up 0.2%

Tokyo -- Japan's shipments of rolled aluminium products in August edged up by 0.2% year on year to 182,762 mt, Japan Aluminium Association said on Thursday. The August shipments posted a year on year increase due to steady demand for sheet used for beverage cans, the association said. Meanwhile, extrusion shipments stayed weak on the back of slowing construction demand. Rolled aluminium products include aluminium sheet and extruded products. Sheet shipments in August were 106,483 mt, up 3.5% year on year, and extrusions 76,279 mt, down 4.1% year on year.
