Japan's August secondary aluminium shipments up 4.3% year on year

Tokyo -- Japan's secondary aluminium alloy shipments in August rose 4.3% year on year to 85,712 mt, the Japan Aluminium Alloy Refiners Association said on Monday. Increased shipments to diecasters making auto components triggered the year on year shipment growth that had continued for 27 consecutive months. Shipments to diecasters were up 9.4% year on year to 46,971 mt, and to aluminium alloy sheet manufacturers up 1.3% to 6,087 mt. However, shipments to other segments fell. Shipments to molders were down 0.1% to 22,127 mt, to extruders down 3.5% to 5,686 mt, to steelmakers down 9.5% to 2,097 mt, and to alloy ingot makers down 2.8% to 2,744 mt.
