Japan's Jan output of aluminium diecasting products up 8% on year

Japan's output of aluminium diecasting products in January rose 8% to 91,078 mt, compared with last year, the Japan Die Casting Association said last week. The increase was driven by continued powerful demand from the automotive sector, which accounted for over 84% of total demand. Output of aluminium diecasting products for the automotive sector was 76,804 mt in January, up 9.4% on year. Output of diecasting products was 4,900 mt for general machinery, down 1.5%; 3,783 mt for two-wheeled motor vehicles, down 7.8%; 2,541 mt for electric machinery, up 18.4%; and 3,125 mt for other applications, up 5%. The production data includes the output of over 100 diecasters in Japan.
