KINGSTON, Jamaica - A Russian-owned aluminum company will temporarily close its two refineries in Jamaica and lay off 250 workers. West Indies Alumina Jamaica Limited says it will suspend production in March because of a global drop in demand for alumina. Managing director Andrew Currie says 850 permanent workers will remain at the plants in Manchester and St. Catherine. Windalco already had cut 150 jobs in December. source:www.msnbc.msn.com
