N.Hydro cuts Norway plant output by further 25 pct

OSLO, Feb 10 (Reuters) - Norsk Hydro said: * Reducing its aluminium production by another 25 percent at its Soeral plant in Norway, effective March 1. * Soeral to produce at 50 percent capacity. * "The measures are a response to the unprecedented rapidity and severity of the global economic downturn, which has caused sharp falls in commodity prices and a significantly weaker demand outlook." * Holds 49.9 percent in Soeral, while Rio Tinto Alcan owns 50 percent and others 0.1 percent.
