GE Energy Signs Service Deal For Over $45 Mln With Dubai Aluminium - Update

(RTTNews) - GE Energy, a unit of General Electric Co. (GE: News ), announced Tuesday the inking of a multi-year service contract with Dubai Aluminium Company Ltd. valued above $45 million to reduce the cost of aluminium production. As per the deal, GE would enhance the overall performance of 19 its gas turbines that power Dubai Aluminium's production complex, and reduce NOx emissions from the eight Frame-5 units by 15%. Abdulla Kalban, chief executive of Dubai Aluminium, said, "This service agreement with GE will help us reduce our cost of generating electricity, which will lead to a lower cost of aluminium production, positioning us more competitively in the global market." Joseph Anis, president of GE Energy for the Middle East, added that the company would provide technical support to meet Dubai Aluminium's specific power generation requirements.
