ADBIC and Gulfex plans to build new aluminium facility

Abu Dhabi Basic Industries Corporation (ADBIC) has decided to put up an aluminium facility with an approximated cost of Dh368 million in the forthcoming Sheikh Khalifa Port and Industrial Zone in Taweelah. The upcoming facility will create aluminium extrusion products for the local as well as overseas markets. The corporation will construct the Aluminium Extrusion Facility in a JV with Dubai-based Gulf Extrusions Company (Gulfex). In an announcement, functionaries of ADBIC said that the collaboration with Gulf Extrusions will strengthen its focused endeavors to spread out the downstream manufacturing sector in Abu Dhabi. This association will position the UAE as a leading exporter of aluminium extrusions to overseas markets. The construction of the facility is slated to commence in the third quarter of fiscal 2010, and will generate 50,000tpa of aluminium extrusion as well as extrusion-based niché-oriented products including high-end architectural systems and automotive and engineering extrusions.
