January-September, SUAL upped aluminum production by 1.5% to 793.9 th tons.

In January-September 2006, SUAL Group produced 793.9 th tons of primary aluminum, which is 1.5% more than for the same period of 2005 - 782.4 mln tons, the Company reports.

The increase is due to the continuing realization of measures on technical development of all of the Company's smelters.

Bauxite production grew by 13.4% and totaled 4.505 mln tons.

Turnout of alumina dropped by 0.4% to 1.717 mln tons from 1.724 mln tons.

Silicon production slid by 5.6% during the 9 months.

SUAL Group is a vertically integrated aluminum company that ranks amongst the world's top ten aluminum producers. It comprises 20 businesses that produce bauxite, alumina, primary aluminium, silicon, semi-finished and finished aluminum products. Primary aluminium production by the Group's enterprises in 2005 rose by 13.4% to 1.047 million tons, bauxite production grew by 7.8% to 5.408 million tons, alumina production - by 10.6% to 2.285 million tons.
