Russian metals giant UC RUSAL is considering a major investment in developing bauxite reserves in Vietnam, according to local media, quoting Igor Khovaev, Minister-Counsellor of the Russian Embassy in the country.
UC RUSAL opened an office in Vietnam last month and is studying the potential to build on the known bauxite reserves in the Central Highlands region of Vietnam to include alumina and aluminium production and power generation.
Khovaev said that Russian investment in Vietnam was top of the agenda in the country’s bilateral relations.
