Russian exports of aluminium (no break-down provided) fell by 1.0% to 1,405,800t in the Jan-Apr 2007 period, according to the latest figures from the country’s customs department.
That marks a significant catch-up with year-earlier levels since Jan-Mar exports were running 23.4% below 2006 levels.
We suspect the sharp fluctuations at the start of this year are simply a function of month-on-month volatility in the figures, reflecting winter-season shipping patterns.
