OJSC Timan bauxite output down 2.4% to 1.66 M tons in Jan-Oct

London, Nov 14 - Komi Republic's Industry and Energy Ministry announced that OJSC Timan Bauxite produced 1.66 million tons over January to October, down by 22.4 percent year-on-year. The ministry said, the sliding was caused by the falling down of bauxite demand and output target. OJSC produced 2.39 million tons bauxite in 2006, rose by 18% year-on-year. The company possess the mining license of Sredne-Timan bauxite area, the biggest bauxite field in Eurasia. The proved reserve in this area is 260 million tons, account of 30 percent of Russia's bauxite reserves. OJSC has been mining in this area since 1998. The bauxite produced in the area is delivered to SUAL's Urals and Bogoslovsky alumina refineries, which now belong to United Company RUSAL.
