UC RUSAL to build an aluminium plan

Russia’s United Company RUSAL has confirmed its readiness to build an aluminium plan in Yekibastuz after it signed a contract with the Russian research institute of Irkutsk on providing a technical and economic feasibility study for the project in 2006. In 2007 RUSAL decided to resume the project preliminarily estimated at 1.5 billion US dollars, planned to be located near the GRES-1 power station and it is expected to have an annual planned production capacity of 500 thousand tonnes of aluminium casting.
