MOSCOW, Feb 9 (Reuters) - United Company RUSAL said on Monday it has appointed Pyotr Sinshinov as deputy to chief executive Oleg Deripaska in order to oversee a cost-cutting programme at the world's largest aluminium producer. Sinshinov, previously chief executive at railway transport manufacturer Transmash Holding, will seek "alternative solutions to the current procurement and purchasing schemes" and look to cut transport and logistics costs, UC RUSAL said in a statement. UC RUSAL last week announced a plan to cut 11 percent of its annual aluminium output, 30 percent of its alumina output and 5 percent of its staff as it tackles the global economic crisis. Deripaska, the largest shareholder in UC RUSAL, was appointed the company's chief executive in January. Sinshinov, his new deputy, previously worked at coal miner Kuzbassrazrezugol. Between 1995 and 2000, he was commercial director and deputy managing director of the Sayanogorsk aluminium smelter, now part of UC RUSAL.
