Norilsk Nickel plans to diversify export markets

Itar Tass quoted Mr Vladimir Strzhalkovsky director general of Russia's leading metals company Norilsk Nickel as saying that it will diversify its export markets increasing supplies to China and India. He stressed that Europe was Norilsk Nickel’s traditional market. He added that "However, the situation slightly changes, as the European Commission considers measures that may put some nickel compounds on the list of terragens. Undoubtedly, taking this into account we will try to expand our supply market. We've increased sales in China and will do the same in India." He believes that exports to Europe will not be fully stopped, but there will be tougher requirements for packing and other things, this means additional expenses. He added that "Therefore we will diversify export markets. China is of course, the most promising and fast developing economy. Therefore we will take serious steps in this direction."
