RUSAL, a global leading aluminum supplier in Russia, planned to invest 400 billion roubles to build a new alumina refining plant in Leningrad.
The construction will include four technological lines at the site and the improvement in infrastructure at the Port of Ust-Luga.
For the first phase, RUSAL will install an annual refining capacity of 2.4 million tons of alumina, expected to commission by the end of 2028. The second phase will be designed with a similar refining capacity, scheduled to be put into operation by 2032.
The project was expected to create 7,500 new job opportunities.
