Rio Tinto says to unwind Alcan hedgebook

Mining firm Rio Tinto (RIO.L: Quote, Profile , Research)(RIO.AX: Quote, Profile , Research) will unwind Alcan's (AL.N: Quote, Profile , Research)(AL.TO: Quote, Profile , Research) aluminium hedgebook if it succeeds in buying the Canadian metal producer, Rio said. Alcan declined to give details of its hedgebook in an e-mail received on Tuesday. "Assuming we go through with the deal, it will all be wound down," a Rio Tinto spokesman said on Monday.
