Daily global aluminium production rises in June - IAI

Global daily aluminium production rose to an average of 99,600 tonnes in the first half of 2007 against 89,000 tonnes the year before, according to statistics published by the International Aluminium Institute. Overall aluminium production rose to 18.03 mln tonnes in the period from 16.1 mln tonnes a year earlier. Daily global production of primary aluminium rose in June to 102,300 tonnes against 99,700 tonnes in May, it said. Overall production in June dipped from May due to the lower number of working days in the month and stood at 3.07 mln tonnes against 3.09 mln tonnes. China produced 5.89 mln tonnes of aluminium in the period, up from 4.31 mln a year earlier, and raised its monthly production in June to 1.034 mln tonnes from 1.002 mln tonnes the previous month.
