Rio Tinto and Alcan name management team

Rio Tinto and Alcan have named the management team that will form the operating backbone of the new entity—Rio Tinto Alcan—that will be created by Rio’s acquisition of the Canadian company. Tom Albanese, Rio Tinto chief executive, stated: "As we approach the closing of the transaction, it's important to hit the ground running with a strong executive team that can begin to capitalize right away on our leadership position in the aluminium industry." Dick Evans, Alcan's president and chief executive offer, will become chief executive of the combined aluminium product group and will report directly to Albanese. Steve Hodgson will be President & chief executive officer for Bauxite and Alumina. Jacynthe Cote will be President & chief executive officer for Primary Metal. Christel Bories will become President & chief executive officer for Engineered Products. Until the completion of its planned divestiture, announced in July 2007, Packaging will report to Dick Evans and be led by Ilene Gordon.
