Stocks of primary aluminium registered with the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) rose by 12,821t to 93,703t in the week to Thursday.
SHFE stocks are now up by 75,121t on the start of January 2007 and approaching the year's high of 99,377t seen at the beginning of March.
LME stocks are now moving in the opposite direction as the recent cancellation activity feeds through into accelerated draws.
Asian locations accounted for the lion's share of yesterday's draws and can be expected to remain the driver of "out" side activity because the recent cancellations were largely concentrated on South Korea and Singapore.
Cancellations tailed off yesterday but there is a big over-hang of recently cancelled metal in the system that will support accelerated draws for several days.
