Rio Tinto Alcan Signed an Agreement with Norsk Hydro ASA on Increase Alumina Supplying

News from Rio Tinto Alcan, Oct.31: Rio Tinto Alcan declared on Oct. 31 that it has signed a agreement with Norsk Hydro ASA, it will increase its alumina supplying to Norsk Hydro ASA from 500,000 to 900,000 ton till the year 2011, the end of this agreement. President and CEO of bauxite and alumina department of Rio Tinto Alcan Steve Hodgson said that “this agreement support our decision on extension alumina smelter, and agree with our strategy that maximum the value its world class bauxite mine on Weipa, Australia.” According to a 20 years’ contract, Rio Tinto Alcan need to offer 500,000 ton alumina from 2006 to 2030.
