BHP Sure to Get Rio Tinto

June 6, 2008—BHP Billiton believes it will finally come through the bid for rival Rio Tinto, and the combined company will receive much more interests than develop individually, said Marius Kloppers, CEO of BHP Billiton. Kloppers said global commodities demand will continue increasing with China remaining the major driver, and BHP Billiton will also benefit from it. It is estimated that the company will grow with an annual speed of 7 percent in the following five years. Kloppers also noted that the planned Olympic dam projects of copper, gold and uranium mines will be the key growth points, which are mapping out to perform in several phases.
