LONDON, Dec 07, 2008 (Dow Jones Commodities News via Comtex) -- Mining company Anglo American PLC (AAL.LN) will this week slash billions of pounds from its 2009 capital spending plan in response the global economic problems, U.K. newspaper The Sunday Telegraph reports. The company will delay work on a number of large mining projects around the world, a move that may affect thousands of jobs, the paper says, citing a person close to the company. It has also begun a global review of all head office and regional office cost structures, the paper says. "It's about positioning Anglo for a new climate," the person says. -By London Bureau, Dow Jones Newswires;
