Aluminium plant rescue proposals

Welsh Secretary Peter Hain tells Felicity Evans about attempts to organise a rescue deal with Anglesey Aluminium promptly. The smelting plant, which recently announced 250 redundancies, following 140 voluntary redundancies, says it cannot continue production without an alternative energy deal after its current contract with Wylfa expires. Mr Hain said the board had taken the UK government's "generous" offer seriously and negotiations were continuing.
