Extruded aluminum heat sinks offer a low cost, customizable thermal transfer solution to many cooling thermal management needs, from hot PCB components to arrays of LEDs. ATS provides a wide range of extruded heat sinks to meet nearly every application requirement – which typically must consider package size, cooling performance, available space, airflow and cost. Standard aluminum extruded heat sinks are available for package sizes from 11 x 7 mm up to 500 x 100.7 mm. Standard heat sink heights range from 6 mm to 73.28 mm. Their thermal resistance characteristics are as low as 1.12°C/W. All ATS standard aluminum extruded heat sinks can be ordered online from the ATS website.
ATS also offers extruded sinks in bulk lengths for custom shaping when standard parts won’t meet all the cooling requirements. The lengths are readily cut to custom lengths and the fin fields can be selectively cut to custom fit most applications. For example, one ATS customer, a manufacturer of LED Lights, is custom cutting 18 inch long extruded heat sinks to fit inside a line of decorative fixtures. The heat sink was selected for cooling a strip of 10 high power LEDs. ATS’s unique designs, and LED thermal engineering support, is providing this customer with a competitive advantage as a result.
